A Little More About Me

I am a father and husband, with 2 dogs and 2 cats. We live in the Indianapolis area after moving from Muncie back in 2022. This is around the time that I made the transition to my IT career, as I previously worked in the mental health field.

I originally wanted to be a Forensic Anthropologist growing up, but I found later in life (while in college for this field) that this would not be a good career path for me. I have always wanted to help people, so I transitioned what credits I had already obtained in Anthropology into Cultural Anthropology.

I often think about that time and how it changed me, despite no longer working in that field. It provided me with a lot of insight into the different types of religions, cultures, and people around the world, which I think helped me develop my soft-skills.

After college, I continued working in food service as an assistant manager, until I would later become a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT). I worked as an RBT for a few years, but needed a change in career due to the stress related to the job. I then started as a tier 1 help desk technician for Apple, and I never looked back.

I have a lot of hobbies. I enjoy video games, music production, weight lifting, watching horror movies, going hiking, and collecting computer parts. I have also recently begun to get into wood working (ask me how I hurt myself), virtualizing a home lab, and riding my bike (motorcycle and bicycle, they are both hobbies of mine).

I also enjoy following different content creators on YouTube, which is likely the social media platform I am most active on (I do not post my own videos, but maybe one day).

My current professional goal is to get into an administrator/engineering level job. I have been studying and creating Azure and Windows Server labs and resources, as I do not have the opportunity currently to work on them professionally. However, I do get a lot of experience with Exchange and O365 management, including Teams and SharePoint, so my experience with Identity and User management in Windows On-Prem and Azure environments is probably my greatest strength.

Initially, when I first started working in IT, I wanted to be a Cyber Security Engineer. I think this has changed over time due to my exposure to the hybrid cloud environments in the different positions I have held, as well as Azure related studying I had completed for the certifications that have been recommended to me by my leadership.
